DC-Based Urban Igloo Launches to Help Fill Local Rental Properties
Washington, DC -- Taking a page from similar online services in places like Boston, Chicago and New York, local real estate broker Rick Gersten has launched a new DC-based company that aims to lower the vacancy rates of apartments and investment condos. The privately funded company, called Urban Igloo, allows homeowners and landlords to post their apartment and condo listings for free, paying only when leases are signed. The company's agents then identify properties that meet renters' requirements, drive them on personal tours of the properties and process the paperwork. The company said that its services can shorten the process of finding a rental property from several days to an average of 4-5 hours. Gersten, a former deputy director and chief of the real estate portfolio for DC's Office of Property Management, called the District an ideal market for such a service, given its transient nature. http://www.urbanigloo.com/
